More detail on this person: James R. Creighton Jr. VIRGINIA BEACH - James "Jim" R. Creighton Jr., 65, died Feb. 28, 2008. He was born in Little Rock, Ark. He was the son of Elizabeth J. Creighton of Portland, Ore., and the late James R. Creighton. Jim was a graduate of Oregon State University with a degree in geology. He received an ROTC Direct Commission as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Jim was an Army Ranger and served in the Vietnam War, receiving multiple medals and commendations including the National Defense Service Medal and the Bronze Star. He was an Army Aviator graduating from flight school from Ft. Stewart, Ga. After retiring from the U.S. Army as a major, he worked as a civil engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk District, for more than 30 years. He was the project manager for the Virginia Beach Hurricane Protection Project, which was one of his proudest achievements. In addition to his mother Elizabeth J. Creighton, Jim is survived by his loving wife, Carmen E. Creighton of 37 years; son, John Robert Creighton of Virginia Beach; daughter, Bonnie Terll of North Carolina; son, Robbie Ammerman of Washington, D.C.; and sister, Kay Creighton of Arizona; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and close friends. He was predeceased by son, James Michael Creighton. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and a funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Road, Virginia Beach. Burial will follow in Colonial Grove. Memorial Park.
