More detail on this person: Robert Eldon Craig Jr., age 69, of Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, formerly of Tawas City, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015.

He was born Nov. 13, 1946 in Detroit, the son of Robert E. and Zelma (Howell) Craig.

Robert was a Vietnam War veteran who earned a Bronze Star Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, a Purple Heart and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. He was a helicopter pilot, both during the war and in civilian life. Robert owned and operated Bayview Resort in Tawas City from June 1992 to June 2011. He retired and moved to Canada to reside with his wife.

On Feb. 19, 1993, he married Diane Eileen Bowden and she survives. Other survivors include his step-son, Wayne Philpott of Toronto, Canada; eight siblings, Donald of Naples, Fla, James (Pam) of Warne, N.C., Joyce (Ted) Saski of West Bloomfield, Janet (Jed) Macey of Tigard, Ore., Nancy Foust of Brentwood, Tenn., Bonnie (Dan Sylvester) Craig of Central Lake, Corinne (John) Stolaruk of Jackson and Michael of San Diego, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 19 at noon at Cole Funeral Chapel in Chelsea with Deacon Tom Franklin officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. A private burial will be held at a later date in Oak Grove East Cemetery in Chelsea. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to St. Joseph Hospice, 475 Christina St North, Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, N7T 5W3.
