Born June 20, 1932 to Adeline Caroline Stiemann and Benjamin C Curtis, Papa, as he was affectionately called, lived in Green Cove Springs for the last few years, after moving from Aurora, CO to be close to his family. His beloved wife of 56 years, Mary Ruth, and a daughter Judy preceded him in death. He is survived by his five remaining children, 1 daughter: Ruth Christine Dill (Cdr. Ted A. Dill, USN ret., deceased), and his 4 sons: Mike, Rob Jr. (Kelly), Thomas and Kevin (Robin), 18 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. His sister Jill Mercury of Maryland, and her 4 children: Beth, Jay, Sean, and Danny. Major Curtis followed in his father's footsteps and joined the United States Army at the age of 18. He enjoyed the honor of being sworn in to active duty by his father, and served honorably for 22 years. A decorated veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars, he was stationed in Europe and Asia, as well Alaska, Maryland, Virginia, Kentucky, and finally Colorado Springs, where he retired 29 years ago to raise his family. Papa loved his country, and his family, and enjoyed watching movies, reading a good novel, and listening to the Classics, Polka, and Dixieland Jazz.
