A native of Auburn, IL, he married Elizabeth Smith September 19, 1945. He is survived by this wife, Elizabeth, three daughters; Elizabeth M Charles Owens and Carol Jean Charles King, of Virginia Beach, VA and Mrs. Maurica Denise Charles West of Fort Bragg, NC; two brothers, John W of Auburn. IL and James R of Springfield, IL; seven sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth P Berggren, Chicago, Mrs. Dorothy J Stoffel of Springfield, Mrs. Ruth A Miller, Mrs. Helen J Anderson, Mrs. June Smalley and Mrs. Frances K Swick, of Bloomington, IL. Mrs. Mary M Ward of Dallas, TX. and four grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, Malibu by the Rev Father Edward L. Richardson. Burial with military honors will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
