More detail on this person: Michael E. Collins Sr. U.S. Marine Corps Retiree CORONA, Calif. - Michael Collins Sr., 63, of Corona, Calif., died Oct. 13 at Corona Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of Mary Collins. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mel's Catholic Church, Norco, Calif. Burial will be in Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, Calif., with full military honors. The Norco Family Mortuary, Norco, Calif., is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Collins was born Dec. 26, 1936, in Springfield, Mass. He was the son of the late Ernest and Marie Collins. He was a U.S. Marine Corps colonel, retiring after 20 years of service; he served as the personal helicopter pilot for former President Richard Nixon. Following retirement, he worked at Walker and Lee Real Estate. He was a Vietnam War veteran, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallan try. Mr. Collins also is survived by two sons, Michael Collins Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va., and Christopher Collins of Norco, Calif.; three daughters, Deborah Perez of San Jacinto, Calif., Michelle Parcell of Norco, Calif., and Leslie London of York; and nine grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children), York County Courthouse, York 17404.
