More detail on this person: Michael Douglas Connor, 69, of Montvale, died Friday, January 19, 2018. He was born in Bedford County, on February 11, 1948, a son of the late William Chester Connor and Annie Lou Meeks Connor. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, Walter Meeks, Mac Connor, Billy Conner, Bobby Conner, Cecil Connor; and sister, Minnie Connor Baker. Michael was a 1966 graduate of Liberty High School, a member of Montvale Presbyterian Church and Goose Creek Hunt Club. He was a United States Army Veteran during Vietnam and was a warrant officer and helicopter pilot. He retired from Appalachian Power Company with 27 years of service working with great friends and co-workers. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Vera Genevieve âÇoGennyâÇ¥ Connor; brothers, David E. Connor and wife Evelyn, Wayne Connor and wife Eilene; sister, Nancy Connor Powers and husband Tucker; adopted son, Greg Douglas; brother-in-law, Harold Glen Orange and wife Judy; sisters-in-law, Frances Bramlett, Dorothy Mae Orange, Reva O. Wheat and husband Owen; many wonderful nieces and nephews; and special members of Goose Creek Hunt Club; along with wonderful caring friends and neighbors, Juan and Alina Olazagasti and their family. In lieu of flowers please consider The American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106A, Roanoke, VA 24018. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 27, at Burch-Messier Walnut Street Chapel, 1235 Walnut St., Bedford, with the Pastor Bob Auxier officiating. Burial will follow in Montvale Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6:00 âÇ" 8:00 p.m., Friday, at Burch-Messier Walnut St. Chapel.
