More detail on this person: Horseshoe Bay, Texas - Jack Thomas Cornett Sr, currently of Horseshoe Bay, Texas and a former long-term resident of Arlington TX went to be with our Lord on February 24, 2021. Jack was born on October 2, 1943 in Clarksville, TX to Thomas Andrew Cornett and Maudice Glidden Cornett. He grew up in Urania, LA and graduated from LaSalle High School and subsequently Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, LA with a bachelor's degree in history. After graduation, he received his officer's commission into the United States Army where he served his country in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot for the 173rd Assault Helicopter Division_Robin Hoods. During his military career he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, Army Commendation Medal, Army Aviator Badge, Air Medal with 28 Oak Leaf clusters, and Medal of Valor. His experience in the service led him to a thirty year career in the commercial aviation industry, followed by ten years working in finance. Jack was loved by many. He was a kind and patient man who loved his family and understood the importance of spending quality time with loved ones. He was a wonderful storyteller, and family and friends alike loved to hear about his life growing up as well as his tales from the service and beyond. He had a love for music which he passed on to his children and enjoyed attending live performances with family. Jack was an outstanding grill master and many of his most cherished times were spent during the holidays making a turkey or brisket and being with his children and eventually grandchildren and great grandchildren. In recent years you would often find Jack playing a round of golf with friends and family or walking the neighborhood with his beloved dog, Sadie. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Maudice Cornett and his grandson, Brandon Perlowski. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of almost 60 years, Martha Brooks Cornett; his children Cara McCullough (Bryan), Danna Perlowski, Leah Dai (Stephen) and Jack Cornett Jr; his grandchildren Rebecca Boyce Ho, Katie Boyce Huse, Kyle Perlowski, Brooke Rodarte McClain, Jacob Biggs, and Brenden Biggs; His sister, Carolyn McLendon and his brother, Dan Cornett; and 7 great grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on April 17, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Tate Springs Baptist Church in Arlington TX.
