More detail on this person: He died on December 13, 1971 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after killing his wife, Dora, and four young children: Duke, Buck, Lady Caroline, and Camille. Major Cowden was medically retired and had recently moved to Satellite Beach, Florida. Neighbors said that he was in intense pain from two helicopter crashes and a car accident.
