More detail on this person: Asheboro Native Air Crash Victim ASHEBORO - Capt. Edward Maxwell Cranford Jr., 29, of Kaneohe, Hawaii died Friday in the Hilo Hospital from injuries suffered in a helicopter crash. The body is being returned to the Pugh Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. A native of Asheboro, he was a 10-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Air Corps serving as a helicopter pilot. He had served one year in Vietnam. Capt. Cranford was a graduate of Wingate College and the University of Georgia, and was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepard. Surviving are widow, Mrs. Diane Tysinger Cranford, of Hawaii; sons, Stephen Maxwell Cranford and David Franklin Cranford, both of the home; mother, Mrs. Jo Anderson Cranford of Asheboro; sister, Mrs. Josie Cranford Markham of Charlotte; grandmother, Mrs. Ed Cranford of Asheboro.
