More detail on this person: Millard "Mick" Cronister II Millard "Mick" Cronister, II OCEANSIDE -- Millard "Mick" Cronister II, passed away peacefully at his home in Oceanside on Sunday, May 16, 2010. He was born on October 29, 1945 in Vallejo, Calif., to Millard and Thelma Cronister. Mick attended Helix High School in San Diego, Calif., after which he volunteered for service in the Army. He served seven years in the Army, including two tours in Vietnam. While serving his first tour with the 173rd Airborne Brigade, he was awarded the Bronze Star. His second tour entailed flying 01-Birddog reconnaissance planes with the 14th Armored Calvary Regiment. After his distinguished Army career, he attended San Diego State University and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Business Administration (Accounting). Mick is survived by his wife of 42 years, Latrell; his two daughters, Lisa Hawes and Carrie Wittmer (Michael); his grandson, Tyler Hawes; his father, Millard Cronister I; his sisters, Elaine and Karen; and his brothers, David and Robert. Mick was a thoughtful man who didn't say much but touched the lives of many people. He was a second Dad to many of his daughters' friends and a good friend to all of us. Mick will be especially remembered for his strength and loving heart. We are all blessed to have had such a wonderful man and soldier in our lives. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 26, at Eternal Hills Mortuary, 1999 S. El Camino Real in Oceanside, Calif.
