More detail on this person: LYNN A. CARPENTER Lynn A. Carpenter, 56, of Victoria, died Monday, August 7, 2000. He was born May 26, 1944, in Tulsa, Okla., to Finely Bee Carpenter and Parola Emma Lair. He was a 1962 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and was captain of the ROTC. He attended St. Mary's University in San Antonio and was a 1966 graduate of Texas A&I in Kingsville with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He received an honorable discharge as a captain on Oct. 2, 1969, and was awarded the Air Medal with Valor. He was formerly employed at Gary Job Corps in San Marcos and Firestone in Austin and Corpus Christi. He worked for the Devereux Foundation in Victoria for 17 years and helped set up the Adult Community Vocational Services program. He was promoted to be the first Adult Community Vocational Services Coordinator in March 1997 and served in that position until December 1999 when he worked for Private Mini Storage in Houston and Austin. Survivors: wife, Sharon Carpenter; daughter, Cassandra L. Carpenter of Odessa; sons, David Andrews of Florida, Clifford W. Carpenter of Abilene, Clayton W. Carpenter of Odessa, and Craig A. Carpenter of Houston; parents; sisters, Linda Nichols and Ann Mosmon, both of San Antonio; and nine grandchildren. Private services for family and friends will be 9 a.m. Saturday in Seguin.
