More detail on this person: Arel Edwin Childress, Jr., 47, of Atkins, a chief warrant officer, died Monday. Childress was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he was an Army helicopter pilot and Fixed Wing Pilot, a member Veteran of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans and a member of Atkins First Baptist Church. Funeral will be today at Atkins First Baptist Church by the Rev. Ray Smith. Burial will be in the Atkins City Cemetery by Lemley Funeral Home. Survivors are his wife, Brenda Childress; two sons, Gary Childress and Steve Childress, both of Atkins; his mother, Mrs. Beatrice Childress of Atkins, and two grandchildren.
