More detail on this person: Search For 2 Fliers Futile The second day of the search for the bodies of two Marine airmen whose F-4 jet plane reportedly crashed 10 miles southwest of San Clemente Island was unsuccessful yesterday. The men were identified as Capt. Lyle C. Christy, 29, of Irvine, the pilot; and Maj. Leonard J. Catanzaro, 40, of Poway, a radar officer. The two men were on a routine training flight from El Toro Marine Air Station when their plane crashed Wednesday. The two officers ejected before their plane crashed into the sea near San Clemente Island, according to a Marine Corps spokesman.
