More detail on this person: FRANCIS COPELAND, 68, Army LAKE ALFRED -- Col. Francis Ashfield Copeland of Lake Alfred, FL died of lung transplant complications Thursday (Dec. 20, 2001). He was 68. He retired from Fort Sam in Houston after serving 30 years in the Army. He served as a medical evacuation helicopter pilot in the Korean War and two tours in Vietnam. He later became the hospital administrator for Eureka Springs Hospital in Eureka Springs, Ariz. He was a member of the DUSTOFF Association in San Antonio, Texas, and Veterans Foreign Wars in Eureka Springs. He was a Protestant. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Copeland; daughters, Cynthia Copeland-Bittar (Spouse Donald Bittar), Indiatlantic, FL, Catherine Copeland Papageorgiou (Spouse Panayiotis Papageorgiou), New Port Richey, FL, and Susan Copeland-Gam (Spouse Bob Gam),, Winter Park, FL; brother, Charles Copeland, Hastings on Hudson, N.Y.; sister, Ellie Baker Copeland, New York City; and four grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Crisp-Coon Funeral Home in Lake Alfred. Services will be at 1 p.m. Jan 14 at Arlington National Cemetery.
