More detail on this person: My father was in the 101st when in Vietnam. He died of melanoma
cancer. He received his Phd from the Univ of Alabama a few years after he retired from the army.
He taught at the local college and inspired many students. He wrote for a computer magazine and
loved life. I found one of his aritcles on line when I googled his name last night. He never had
any post war syndrome. He was always optimistic and inspiring. He flew hueys in Da Nang and Quin
yong (sp?) in 68 and 69. He would tell us funny stories of his year in Vietnam. This information was last updated 05/18/2016

He died on Dec 6 1989. He was a great American. Since his death, his legacy continues through his
children. His son in law, Conway S. Ellers, is a recently retired Army aviator, and Roger's
granddaughter, Captain Courtney Ellers, makes our family's 3rd generation Army aviator. She and her
daddy both fly chinooks. She and her daddy have served in Afghanistan and Iraq. Now, Courtney is
trying to get into the unit that recovers MIA bones in Vietnam and Cambodia.--her grandpa's old
"stomping ground" or should I say flying area. Thank you keeping my dad's memory alive.
