More detail on this person: John E. Caron passed away on October 13th at his home in Fort Collins with members of his family at his side. He was born March 16, 1932 in Frankfort, Indiana, the son of Eugene and Ethel (Oelslager) Caron. He graduated from the University of Dayton in 1954, was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and married Barbara Feltman on June 19th. He then entered Active Duty at Fort Benning, GA and eventually completed Army Aviator flight training in both aircraft and helicopters. They moved to Germany where the first of three children was born. During numerous assignments including Germany, Korea, Vietnam and Iran as well as military bases in the US, he received various military awards and decorations including the Distinguished Flying Cross and Bronze Star. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1974 and moved with his family to Fort Collins where he began a second career as an Administrator at Colorado State University where he retired in January 1992. John is survived by his wife Barbara; three children - Christopher of Longmont; Michael (Monti) of Littleton and Julie (Jim Roseto) of Denver; 8 grandchildren - Phillip, Isabelle, Chloe, Sophia, Madison, Morgan, Allison, Charles and 5 great grandchildren. They were the love of his life as he spent time with each and every one. He called them Papa's Peanuts. John enjoyed watching sports: auto racing and football were most prominent. He followed the Broncos as well as various CSU Ram teams. Fishing with his grandchildren was another highlight as was his Tuesday mornings with his Good Ole Boys breakfast club. He also enjoyed bridge and poker with his gang, none of which he was very good at, but he enjoyed them anyway. He had a great sense of humor and loved a good joke. John's final request - "Send your bucks to the charity or bar of your choice. Color me gone!" John / Dad / Papa will be greatly missed by many! http://www.allnutt.com/book-of-memories/1375589/Caron-John/obituary.php
