A memorial service is planned for Saturday, August 6, 1994 at 10:30 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Stillwater. Dreessen died after a brief illness on Monday, August 1, 1994 in the Philippines at the age of 45. Dreessen was born in Guthrie on January 26, 1949, the son of Ralph and Lenora (Shields) Dreessen. He joined the Army in 1969 and became a helicopter pilot. Dreessen flew cobra gun ships and was a decorated pilot during the Vietnam War. After he left the service, he returned to Stillwater, where he owned and operated Nick's Restaurant. For the past 15 years, Dreessen has flown commercial helicopters in Alaska, Texas, Bolivia, New Guinea and Indonesia. He was predeceased by his mother in 1962 and a son, Michael Allen Dreessen, who died in March, 1973 at the age of 4. Survivors include his father and stepmother, Ralph and Ruby Dreessen of Stillwater; one brother, Dr. Philip Dreessen of Houston; one sister, Dr. Carolyn Kinney of Austin, Texas; one stepsister, Gwen Peatling of Bartlesville; four nephews, six nieces; a number of cousins and a host of friends. Memorials may be made to the foundation of the donor's choice.
