Doran Daily Oklahoman, The (Oklahoma City, OK) - Thursday, December 19, 1996 DORAN Thomas F., lost his courageous battle with cancer on December 16, 1996. Tom was born in St. Louis, Mo. on January 6, 1948 to Margaret and John Doran. After graduating from Brentwood High School, Tom attended Drury College. In 1968 he left college to become a Warrant Officer in the Army. He was assigned as a pilot to the 282nd Assault Helicopter Company (The Black Cats) in Quang Ngai, Vietnam, where he was awarded the Bronze Star, Vietnamese Cross of Valor and the Air Medal with 14 Oak Leaf Clusters. After leaving the service, he worked for Integrated Control Systems which brought him to Oklahoma City in 1976 where he was subsequently employed by the Oklahoma Journal. From his diverse background in the consulting business he was employed by Little Giant Pump Company from July, 1977 until March 1984. At that time he returned to college at UCO, graduating in 1986 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. Upon graduating he became part owner and manager of the Curtis-Mathis stores i n Oklahoma City until 1990. He then returned to Little Giant Pump Company as Assembly Operations Manager, a position he held throughout his illness with the support of the company and the employees. Tom is survived by his wife, Nancy and son, Grant Muse; sister, Sherry Felkner and husband Dick; brother, Glen Doran and wife Katy; along with nieces and nephews, Pete, Caroline, Anne, Tom and Megan. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Deanna LaRue and husband Ken; brother-in-law, C.D. "Tom" Thomas and wife Lyn. Tom will also be affectionately remembered by very special friends and neighbors. A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 19, 1996 at 2:00 p.m. at The First United Methodist Church of Edmond, officiated by Dr. Robert W. VanHouse. In lieu of flowers, contributions, in Tom's name, may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Heart Association.
