More detail on this person: From VHPA Facebook, Sent there by Mike O'Neal: It's with a heavy heart that I report the death of a great helicopter pilot and friend, Maj. Richard L. Dunn, December 26, 2024. Dickie was Yellow 1 while flying the UH-1H for C229th AHC during his first tour in RVN 69-70 and flew the AH-1G with D229th which became F 1/9 (Prov) 70-71. He was awarded 62 Air Medals, Silver Star, DFC, BS (2 OLC) and the Purple Heart with (2 OLC). Dickie and I were hooch mates in RVN and spoke often since coming back to the world. He'll be missed and may he rest in peace. Dickie was a true American Hero and my best friend. I'll miss the long talks and laughs we had together...oh, the things we did in war are never forgotten and the friends forged by war can never be replicated, yes, we are truly a band of brothers!
