More detail on this person: DOTY, Col. Richard V. U.S. Army (Ret.) 84, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 12, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gail Gore Doty; sons, Richard V. Doty Jr. and John T. Doty; and four grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Nicholas, Jacob and Tatyana. Born in Detroit, MI, graduated from Winter Haven High School in 1955 and Florida Southern College in 1960 as a Distinguished Military Student. He was a Senior Army Aviator and a two tour Vietnam Veteran. His awards and decorations include: The Silver Star, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star and Air Medal with V and 25 Oak Leaf Clusters. He retired as Deputy Inspector General, U.S. Centcom in 1986 and resided in Valrico since 1981. He was Past President of the Greater Brandon Kiwanis Club, a Hixson Fellow and a member of the Kiwanis Leadership Society, a life member of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association of Florida and the Military Officers Association. Inurnment will be at a later date at Florida National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Veterans Memorial Park.
