More detail on this person: Col. CHARLES EMIL DeSHIELDS, SR. On Tuesday, April 19, 2011, Col. Charles E. DeShields, Sr. U.S. Army (Retired) died at his home in Columbia, Maryland. He is survived by his wife Peggie G. DeShields; his children Daphne DeShields, Janet DeShields and Charles E. DeShields, II and brother Willie DeShields. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 29, 2011 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home, 10220 Guilford Road, Jessup MD 20794, 301-604-0101. At 7 p.m., Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. will conduct their Omega Omega ceremony. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Argonne Hills Chapel Center, 7100 Rockenbach Road, Ft Meade MD, (301) 677-6035/3787. Viewing before service is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Chapel. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery will be announced later. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the following: American Cancer Society , American Heart Association and Howard County Center of African American Culture (www.hccaac.org), 5424 Vantage Pint Road, Columbia MD 21044.
