More detail on this person: Memorial services for William Harold Dunavant will be Thursday, October 31, 2019 at 1:30 pm at Stephens Funeral Home in Meridian, with interment to follow at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Mark Flynn will be officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Mr. Dunavant, 81, of Collinsville, MS, died Friday, October 25, 2019 at Rush Foundation Hospital. William was born April 28, 1938 in Memphis, TN to William and Winnie Dunavant. He was a Vietnam veteran and retired as a Major, after 20 years of active duty in the United States Army. He then went to work for and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Not being one to sit at home, he then worked security at the Army Aviation Support Facility in Meridian. William enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, flying helicopters, traveling and playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He especially loved agitating them. He is survived by his wife Shirley Faye Dunavant; a son James Clifton Dunavant (Liz); a daughter Carolyn Ann Mahan (Doug); grandchildren Cassandra Terrazas, Maegen Terrazas, Nicole Edwards, Hailey Flake, Ethan Dunavant and Levi Dunavant; great grandchildren Jorden Terrazas, Layla Luttrell, Reylee Edwards, Harper Flake and Satcher Edwards; sisters Judy Coleman and Sandra Hutchinson and an Uncle Cleve Dunavant.
