More detail on this person: Edward "Ed" L. Diveley Jr. COLUMBIA - Edward "Ed" L. Diveley, Jr., 68, of Columbia, went to be with his beloved wife Allison, Tuesday, May 16, 2017. Born in New Orleans on January 22, 1949, he was the son of the late Wilma Huxford Diveley. Ed was a CW3 Sr. Aviator in the U.S. Army. He served in Vietnam, West Germany, and flew medivac missions in Columbia. After his military service, he worked for Jeff Hunt Machinery Co., owned Diveley Aviation and served as a corporate pilot for several organizations. Ed returned to the University of South Carolina to conclude his undergraduate studies and began a second career as a Registered Nurse. He worked in the ER at Palmetto Health Richland. His love for veterans led him to Dorn VA Medical Center, where he worked until his retirement. Ed is survived by his son, E. Lee Diveley, III (Kimberly) of Columbia; stepdaughter, Tami Cupp (Mike) of West Columbia; grandchildren, Allison Lewis (Nick) of Newport News, VA, Katherine Cupp of West Columbia, Noah, Taylor, Joshua and Courtney Hope Diveley, all of Columbia; his sister, Peggy Pattison (Lynn) of Perryton, TX; and his chosen brother, Billy Chapman (Jan) of Beaufort; as well as many nephews and nieces. The service for Ed will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday, May 21st at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., with Rev. Bobby Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1 o'clock.
