More detail on this person: Joe S. Davis, 71, of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019 at his cabin on Parksville, Lake. Joe was born October 26, 1948 to the late W.I. (Buster) and Dorothy Davis. He was raised on the family farm in Conasauga, where he developed a passion and understanding of agriculture. Joe graduated from Polk Co. High School in 1966 and received a degree in Animal Husbandry from the University of Tennessee in 1970. Joe served as Captain in the United States Army, where he was a helicopter pilot. He was later promoted to Major while serving in the National Guard. He worked and retired from M & M Mars, served as member of the State and Bradley County 911 board and served as the Bradley County Veterans Affairs Officer. In 2013, Joe was named the recipient of the Raymond H. Miller Patriotic Award. He was an American Legion Officer and served on the State of Tennessee Veterans Home Board, a position appointed by the Governor. Joe was instrumental in bringing the Veterans Home to Cleveland and received the DAV Veteran of the year award in 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Davis. He is survived by his loving devoted wife, Judy Davis of Cleveland; children, Tanna Jo Nicodemus (Pete) of Cleveland, Brad Davis (Candi) of Ellijay, GA; stepchildren, Jennifer Raye (Jeff) of Weaverville, NC and Jerome Burger (Lisa) of Huntsville, AL; eight grandchildren; Nick Nicodemus, Zane Davis, Jack Davis, Brady Raye, Sydney Burger, Caden Burger, Logan Raye and Felicia Shagiziganov; sister, Ann Davis Harris (Ken) Port St. Joe, FL and brother, Doug Davis (Joann), Mt. Juliet and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2019 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Jennifer Newell and Pastor Phil Summerall officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.
