George Wilson Derrick *ARLINGTON -- George Wilson Derrick, 77, slipped the surly bonds of earth and touched the face of God on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009. Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday in Emerald Hills Memorial Chapel. Interment: 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation; 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Emerald Hills Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Beran Children's Home. George entered the Army during the Korean War and became an Army aviator, a skill that took him on many adventures throughout his life. He was kind and trustworthy by nature and his personality was fueled by the fascination he felt for life. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Katheryne Johnson. Survivors: The love of his life, his wife of over 58 years, Mary Derrick; son, Gary; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
