More detail on this person: Alfred N. Davis (Al) 74 years old, of Columbia, IL, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023. He was born in Osaka, Japan on Oct 28, 1948, to the late Robert & Geraldine Davis who were stationed there. At a very early age Al found his love for aviation and to no one's surprise had his pilot's license at the age of 14. Al enlisted in the US Army and served as a Warrant Officer (CW2) in Vietnam where he flew helicopters and was awarded with a RVN Gallantry Cross with Bronze Star. Once he was honorably discharged, he went on to serve 7 more years in the Reserves. He continued to fly different types of commercial aircraft all over the world and then finally decided to retire in 2012 after flying air ambulance for 15 years. Al loved to travel with his wife Sandra especially on cruise ships. They were able to explore a good part of the world together. If he didn't already have a cruise planned, he was looking for a deal on the next adventure. When Al wasn't flying or traveling, he was fascinated with electronics. He rebuilt and fixed countless computers, the family was spoiled having their own technical support person to always help. Al was an extremely loving and caring man, who was deeply devoted to his family and he will be missed dearly. Al and his wife Sandra Davis who survives him, recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. He leaves behind his daughter Jolene Devlin; sons, Herb (Shannie) Neuman and Joshua (Katrina) Neuman; four grandchildren, Kristine, Caleb Dhevan Neuman and Valerie Valdez; sister Kathy (Phil) Wood; three nieces, Nicole, Ashley, Lizette Wood and two great-nephews, Leo and Alexios, along with other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by his son, Steven Davis, and brother Robert "Bobby" Davis. Interment with full military honors will be held on June 23, 2023 at 1:30 pm at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St Louis, MO. For those who would like to send flowers or remembrances, the family has selected Folds Of Honor for memorial contributions.
