More detail on this person: William J. Dinsmore III, beloved husband of Gail (Rozman) Dinsmore, of Somers, died Tuesday (September 9, 2014) at Evergreen Health Care Center, Stafford. Born in Lisbon Falls, Maine on June 12, 1945 son of the late William J. Dinsmore Jr., and Marion (Earle) Dinsmore, he had lived in Feeding Hills, MA before moving to Somers in 1995. He was a graduate of the class of 1963, Sanford High School, Sanford, Maine, and graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor's degree from the University of Maine, Orono in History and Government. He was a Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army, retired; Vietnam Veteran; helicopter pilot and awards included the Air Medal with 17 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendations Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a Special Education Teacher at East Windsor schools and taught social studies at the Junior and High Schools. In 1980 he received a Master's in Education with School Administration and in 1984 he received a Master's in Education with Special Education. He enjoyed his home at Kauai, Hawaii. In addition to his wife Gail, he leaves sons, Scott Dinsmore and his wife Danielle of Rowley, MA and Michael Gliwski of Somers; brothers, Charles Dinsmore and his wife Meghan of Damariscotta, Maine and Thomas Dinsmore and his wife Shaula of Saluda, North Carolina; grandchildren, Riley and Sienna; a niece Elizabeth and nephews Tad and Corey and his pets, Misha, Stormy and Chewie. "Truly an Officer and a Gentleman". His family will receive friends on Sunday, Sept. 14 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main Street, Somers.
