More detail on this person: Joseph S. Davis CARLISLE Retired Army Col. Joseph S. "Stead" Davis II, 53, of 219 Cavalry Road, North Middleton Twp., died Tuesday in Hershey Medical Center. A career Army officer, he was a veteran of the Vietnam War, served with the Joint Chiefs of Staff and received numerous decorations including the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Jump Wings. He was a graduate of Texas A&M University and the U.S. Army War College and earned a master's degree from Shippensburg University. Surviving are his wife, Marsha Nesbitt Davis; two daughters, Tina K. Morrow and Dawn K. Morton, both of Carlisle; his father, Joe Eugene Davis of Stephenville, Texas; and two grandchildren. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, Carlisle, with full military honors. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, West Pennsboro Twp. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Cumberland County Unit, 117 N. Hanover St., Carlisle 17013.
