More detail on this person: Lieutenant Colonel Richard E Damon, 66 of Keene Worcester Telegram & Gazette (MA) - Wednesday, September 27, 1995 SPOFFORD, N.H. - Lt. Col. Richard E. Damon, U.S. Air Force, Ret., 66, of Atherton Hill Road, formerly of Winchendon, Mass., died Sunday at Cheshire Medical Center, Keene, after a long battle with cancer. His wife of 39 years, Shirley M. (Rushford) Damon, died in 1993. He leaves two sons, Keith R. Damon of Keene and Kevin E. Damon of Sunnyvale, Calif.; a daughter, Victoria D. Rollins of Wolfeboro; a sister, Harriet M. Ries; two brothers, Clayton H. and John R. Damon, all of Fitzwilliam; five grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Winchendon, son of Harry C. and Evelyn M. (Bolton) Damon, and lived here many years. Mr. Damon graduated from Murdock High School, Winchendon, in 1947, and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Omaha. He served 23 years as a pilot in the Air Force, retiring in 1974. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, and received a Purple Heart. Mr. Damon was a member of the Church of the Unity in Winchendon. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Fletcher Funeral Home, 70 Pleasant St., Winchendon. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Winchendon. Calling hours are 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
