More detail on this person: Rudy Dela Cruz, 53, of Kalaheo, Kauai, a retired Kalaheo Fire Station fire captain and recipient of the 1983 County Employee of the Year Award, died Saturday at home. DelaCruz, a Niihau Helicopters pilot and Hawaii Air National Guard retiree, flew helicopters for the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and also was a flight instructor for the Army. He is survived by wife Rebecca; daughter Debbie Ball; son Lloyd; brothers Robert, Gilbert and MacArthur; sister Gladys Cherry; and two grandchildren. Services: 6:30 p.m. Friday at Garden Island Mortuary, call after 5 p.m.; and 10 a.m. Saturday at Kekaha Door of Faith Church, call after 9 a.m. Burial: Kauai Veterans Cemetery. Casual attire.
