More detail on this person: DAVID O. DEWEY 1946-2005 FAUCETT, Mo. --David O. Dewey, 58, Faucett, Mo., died Friday, Aug. 12, 2005, at a local hospital. Born Dec. 4, 1946, in St. Joseph, Mo., he resided there most of his life. On Jan. 22, 1977, he married Cynthia Cowart. She survives of the home. Mr. Dewey was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He loved his work and family and was a very patient man. He was employed by Southwestern Bell/AT&T Telephone Companies and retired after 30 years of service in 1992. He opened DTEC-Dewey Telecommunications in 1992 as owner and operator. Preceding him in death was his father, Gene V. Dewey and his son, Timothy L. Dewey. He was a captain with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a helicopter pilot with the 1st Air Cavalry. He received the Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a member of Telephone Pioneers and Pony Express Post No. 359, American Legion. Additional survivors: four sons, David W. Dewey of Savannah, Mo., Tracey S. Dewey of St. Joseph, Bradley D. Dewey of Cameron, Mo., and Trent E. Dewey of St. Joseph; his mother, Ona Lea Dewey of St. Joseph; two brothers, Gene W. Dewey of Blue Springs, Mo., and Clelan "Corky" Dewey of Savannah; his sister, Meri Beth Jackson of St. Joseph; 11 grandchildren, Chance, Jared, Jacee, Chelsea, Kelsey, Timothy, Dylan, Austin, Hunter, Kamryn, and Caden; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial service: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Joseph. The family will receive friends 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Mr. Dewey will be cremated following the visitation. Military services under the auspices of the Missouri Military Funeral Honors Program.
