More detail on this person: Gary K. Dowler, 76, of Vancouver, WA, beloved husband, passed away Sept. 21, 2016. He was born April 8, 1940 to Kenneth and Laura Dowler in Troy, OH. Gary retired from the military in 2000, having served with the Navy, Army and later the Air Force. He was a helicopter pilot during the Viet Nam war and later in civilian life, working for Evergreen Aviation, Weyerhauser, GSPS, as well as other contract work. His last job was with the Air Force 939th Rescue Wing as maintenance helicopter flightline chief in Portland, OR. Gary enjoyed working on very detailed and intricate scale models of helicopters, planes and trucks, while also enjoying his home here in Vancouver. He loved being a part of our Evergreen Bible Church and attended faithfully. Gary accepted the Lord as his Savior at the age of 21. He was also a member of the VFW Post 4278 in Camas, WA and was their commander for several years. Gary was a man of love, integrity, and faith, and is now in Heaven with Jesus. His survivors include his wife, Linda; daughters, Gail (Rob) Root and Wendy; granddaughters, Sylvia and Francis Root; brother, Gene (Joan) Dowler; and sisters, Charlotte Doughty and Lois Hill. Preceding him in death were his parents; and his first wife, Sandra K. Dowler. A memorial service will be held on Sat., Oct. 15, 2016 at 12:00 noon at: Evergreen Bible Church, 9600 E. Mill Plain Blvd., Vancouver, WA 98664. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Evergreen Bible Church/Missions or VFW Post 4278, PO Box 579, Camas, WA 98607.
