More detail on this person: Charlotte, NC - Lt. Col. Bruce Willie Driscoll, Ret. USMC, 84 of
Charlotte, NC went to be with our Lord, April 23, 2018. He leaves a path marked by Service, Honor,
Love, and Commitment. Bruce was born in Johnson, VT on May 31, 1933 to Carl E. & Muriel (Norway)
Driscoll. He graduated from Peoples Academy, Morrisville, VT In 1951 and enlisted in the Vermont
National Guard; thus, beginning a military career of 29 years in the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps.
As a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War, he transported officers to various sites in the
Republic of Vietnam. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and following his >retirement,
Bruce worked 24 more years as a principal analyst on Joint doctrines and policies, for the
Department of Defense. He received many medals during his service to his country and among them
were the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and
Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.
Bruce is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth C Driscoll, children: Donna Focht (Jerry), Bruce Jr.
(Judy), & Byron (Anita); granddaughters: Alexandra & Julianna Focht, Ava & Grace Driscoll; &
siblings: Carl Driscoll, Dorothy Bliss (Larry), & Bette Kirk (Bob). Bruce was predeceased by his
father, Carl E. Driscoll in 1942, his mother, Muriel Sulham in 2009, and two stepfathers: Robert
Tillotson & Maurice Sulham.
There will be an Honors Ceremony and burial in Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Levine Cancer Institute (Carolina HealthCare
Foundation) at Burial information: Arlington National Cemetery
