More detail on this person: FRANK E. DAVIS JR., 47, HIGHLY DECORATED VET OF VIETNAM WAR Frank E. Davis Jr. 47, of 9548 16th Bay St., Norfolk, Va., died Friday in McGuire Veterans Administration Medical Center, Richmond, Va. Davis was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. A helicopter pilot, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in 1969 for heroism and voluntary action above and beyond the call of duty. Davis completed 419 combat flying hours with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment in Vietnam, and received the Air Medal with 10 oak leaf clusters. He also received the Army commendation medal for his efforts in organizing an Army band at Fort Riley, Kan. He was a 1962 graduate of Liberty High School. He was later an academic instructor for helicopter pilots at Fort Stewart, Ga. Born in Fountain Hill, he was a son of Helen E. (Cowley) Davis of Bethlehem and the late Frank E. Davis Sr. Survivors: Mother; brother, Harry G. of Easton, and sister, Helen E. Davis-Astel of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Heintzelman Funeral Home, 326 Main St., Hellertown. Call 9-10 a.m. Wednesday.
