More detail on this person: Buddy Charles Evans Bartlesville Examiner-Enterprise (OK) - Tuesday, December 20, 2011 Ochelata OK United States Buddy Charles Evans, 74, resident of Ochelata, died at 6:15 PM on Thursday in Tulsa. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday in the Caney Valley High School Gymnasium at Ramona with Rev. Brian Myers and Rev. Kenton White officiating. Interment will be in the Ochelata Cemetery under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory. Masonic rites will be conducted at the graveside by the Ramona Masonic Lodge and Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ramona American Legion Fisk-Lefler Post # 334. A memorial has been established and those who wish to make a contribution in memory of Buddy may do so to: First Baptist Church, 290 N. Ochelata St., Ochelata, Oklahoma 74051. Buddy Charles Evans was born August 30, 1937 in Ochelata, Oklahoma to Floyd A. and Margie (Webb) Evans. He was raised and received his early education in Ochelata graduating high school there in 1956. Buddy joined the U.S. Army Reserve on June 9, 1956. He joined the U. S. Marine Corp on November 1, 1960 and served in the U.S. Marine reserves. Buddy was employed with the Bartlesville Fire Department in 1962 serving as rescue diver. He reenlisted in the U.S. Army in 1965 and served as a pilot with the rank of Chief Warrant officer. While in the military he received the Bronze Star and the Silver Star. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1985. He was employed with the Washington County Sheriff Department and the U.S. Post Office in Bartlesville. He taught the fourth grade at Caney Valley Elementary School in Ochelata for twelve years where he felt teaching was the most rewarding thing he had ever done. Buddy was married to Julia Lee Cook on November 12, 1968 in Miami, Oklahoma. They made their home in Ochelata and in 1985 moved in the home where he was born. Buddy received his bachelors' degree in Aeronautical Science from Embry Riddle College in Daytona Beach, Florida and his bachelors' degree in Education from Langston University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Buddy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ochelata, the Bartlesville Theater Guild, the Ramona Masonic Lodge, the Ramona American Legion, and the D.A.V. Buddy never met anyone he could not find something good about. Survivors include his wife Julia Lee Evans of the family home in Ochelata; two sons Michael L. Evans of McCloud, Oklahoma and Buddy J. Evans of Bartlesville; one daughter Julie J. Lovett of Ochelata; two brothers Mike Webb Evans of Catoosa, Oklahoma and Joe Evans of Hastings, New Zealand; one sister Jane Willcox of Ramona; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
