More detail on this person: William Benjamin "Billy" Ennett passed away in the early morning of February 3, 2018 at his home at age of 85 years old. A native of Sneads Ferry, he traveled the world in his lifetime achieving status as a Petty Officer First Class in the Coast Guard and Chief Warrant Officer 3 in the Army. Gaining a purple heart as a helicopter pilot through multiple combat tours in Vietnam, he retired to flying over Nigeria and Greece before returning home to North Carolina. Continuing service after retirement he gained notoriety as a military equipment acquisitions agent while simultaneously building a subdivision of homes known as the Eagles Nest. His impact was far reaching and he will be missed. William Ennett is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gudrun Winkler Ennett, daughter Vicky Murguia, sons Wayne Ennett, Billy Jo Jordan, and Kevin Ennett, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A memorial service for Bill will be held at 1 PM on Friday, February 16, at the North Topsail Shores Baptist Church at 808 Old Folkstone Rd, Sneads Ferry, NC 28460, with Pastor Dwayne Collins officiating. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, please forward memorial donations for Billy to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice at 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401 (910) 796-7900.
