More detail on this person: Richard Rudolph "Dick" Ehmann was born Halloween, October 31, 1933 in Castle Rock, CO to parents, Nina and Rudolph Ehmann. Dick passed away peacefully on November 17, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nina and Rudolph, sister Donna Kirby, his first wife, Cynthia Fleharty and youngest daughter, Joni Ann Hall. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jo Ann Harrison Ehmann; his daughters Darcy Ann Hydrick (Mark), Teresa Ann Ehmann, Julie Ann Buckley, 12 grandchildren: Lanie Hundley Carson, Tara Ridulfo, Russ Hydrick, Kelli Ann Coates, Rachel Jillian Hartwick, Amanda Pfefferkorn, Melissa Evans, Clint Hundley, Natasha Hundley, Malena Hundley Bowles, Clay Hundley, Dylan Hundley,11 great-grandchildren and sisters, Katheryn Bowen, Mary Lou Ehmann and brother, Jerry Ehmann and many nieces and nephews. Dick graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Shortly after graduation, proceeding a short stint at Hughes aircraft in California, Dick was called up to active duty in the Army. He answered the call and subsequently entered flight school where he earned his wings and became a helicopter pilot. Dick flew many missions overseas and stateside. He also flew in Vietnam where he received a Bronze Star. He left active duty and joined the Reserves, where he earned his Lt. Colonel bars. After joining civilian life, Dick moved to Ingleside on the Bay in 1968. He worked over 33 years for PPG Industries in Corpus Christi which became Elements Chromium. He retired in 2001 from PPG and the Army. Dick was an avid community partner and was actively involved with the incorporation of the City of Ingleside on the Bay in 1991. Dick was elected to serve on the first council of the newly formed city. Dick was active in all phases of the development and progress made with the new City, including the infrastructure improvements of the Water and Sewer Department. He was always willing and enthused to contribute to fix any repairs within the department. Dick loved being able to help the City and he became a mainstay in the community. He served on the City Council for 13 years and stepped down only to serve on the San Patricio County Drainage District, beginning in 2005 until the present. Dick cherished his role as the "go-to-guy" in the City and made himself available for all advice and help when issues surfaced. Dick was also instrumental in the design and building of the Our Lady of Assumption Church in Ingleside, after Hurricane Celia in 1970. First he worked with the parish on the hall and then the church. Along with these pet-projects, he also built his own home which was destroyed in the hurricane. Dick was also very active with the Ingleside on the Bay Volunteer Fire Department. He gave 20+ years of volunteer service of which he devoted his time to ensure the department was functional and equipped and ready to serve the Ingleside on the Bay community. Dick liked to waterski and was proud of the fact that he was able to teach most of his grandchildren to waterski. He was an avid tinkerer and loved working on projects and building things. He wasknown to have a tractor (or five) and enjoyed using them for various tasks, including moving his treasures around or moving dirt for a neighbor. Dick was a loving, respectful and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be mourned and remembered often by his family and friends. He was a brilliant asset to Ingleside on the Bay, of which he felt great passion and pride. He was an integral part of the development of that community and he will not be easily forgotten. He will be missed more than words can express. Visitation will be held Friday, November 22, 2019, at 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home located at 2003 W. Wheeler Ave in Aransas Pass. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption located at 2414 Main St. in Ingleside. Burial to follow at The Palms Cemetery in Portland, Texas.
