Earles, 57, of Radford, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2001. He was retired from the Radford City Police Department having served 28 years with 13 years being Chief of Police. He was a member of the First Christian Church. He was a U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer having served as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He was a graduate of Radford University where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. He was a member of the Radford F. O. P. #21. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Cecil; his mother and step-father, Faye Bond and D.W. Harris; and a sister, Cecilia Earles. Survivors include his wife and best friend, Linda Gilbert Earles of Radford; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian S. and Lori Earles of Radford; a daughter and son-in-law, Nikki E. and Keith Lawrence of Radford; a step-son, Todd Bedwell of Radford; five grandchildren, Brandon and Spencer Earles, Jessi and Shay Cox and Shawn Lawrence; five step-grandchildren, Stephanie, Tyler and Shawn Finley and Annalyse and Ammersyn Bedwell; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve and Kitty Earles, Donnie Harris, Charlie and Sheila Harris, all of Radford, and Robert and Bonnie Harris of Roanoke; one sister and brother-in-law, Sherry and Rick Wolffe of Marion; uncle and his wife, Gene and Wanda Bond of Ohio; first wife, friend and mother of his children and her husband, Dottie and Ronnie Wheeler of Radford; brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law, Dan and Linda Gilbert of Black Mountain, N.C. and Nina and Lewis Hopkins and Walter Robertson, all of Radford; and many other extended family members. Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Radford with Rev. Gina Rhea and Rev. Carl Bean officiating. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery where members of V.F.W. Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to either the First Christian Church or to your favorite charity. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home Radford.
