Ellis Jr. US Army Retired. 70, of Leesburg, FL passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Cornerstone Hospice House, Tavares,FL. Robert was born in Churchill, TN the son of Robert E.and Ollie(Whiteaker) Ellis Sr. Bob moved to Plantation @ Leesburg in May of 2003 from Hungary. Bob was an Army aviator, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam, the commander of a support battalion for the US portion of the UN mission in the Sinai, a graduate of the Army War College, Carlisle, PA. In his last active duty assignment he was the Director of Logistics for the National Security Agency. After discharge he served as the Overseas Regional Director in the Balkans for the Kellogg,Brown and Root Co. Bob was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Aberdeen, MD. Survivors include his wife, Ildiko, her two sons, Zsolt and Adam that he loved as his own, a sister Dorothy(Mike) DeLoach, Mechanicsburg, PA, an aunt, Elizabeth Durham, Bristol, VA and several nieces and nephews, Bob was preceded in death by a sister Betty Jo. The family would like to express their thanks for the excellent care given at LRMC, LRMC North(OHME), Lake Harris Health Care Center, and Cornerstone Hospice. Burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
