More detail on this person: David Ross Ewing was born on June 6, 1944 to James Ross Ewing & Daisy Myrtle Krisher and was raised in Lawton, Oklahoma. He graduated from Lawton High School and graduated from Oklahoma State University. He later completed his MBA. David was a member of The Church at Brook Hills, in Hoover, AL. He was joined in marriage to Joy King on October 15, 2011. David proudly served his country as a career officer in the United States Army. He was a decorated helicopter pilot, serving two tours in Vietnam. He was an Army Ranger. He was awarded numerous medals & honors, including a Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross with one oak leaf cluster, a Bronze Star, and a Vietnam Service Medal with one silver and four bronze service stars. He retired from the army as a Major in 1985. David then went on to a 20+ year career in the Aerospace industry, holding positions in such companies as Morton Thiokol, Lockheed Martin, and Aerojet. He specialized in Materials Management & Acquisitions. David loved playing and watching golf and football. He is survived by his loving wife, Joy King Ewing; children Eric Ewing (wife Nancy) and Kristin Ewing; his step-children, Amber LeClaire, Rachel Bieber, Jackson King, and Taylor King; his step-granddaughter, Alana Carpenter; sisters, Jeannine Aust and Gail Woodard. David came to know the Lord later in his life, and his faith became very important to him. His life has been a testimony to what God can do in a very short time and despite much suffering to work through someone and touch others' lives. A visitation will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 1:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM.
