More detail on this person: William Arthur "Bill" Eason Jr. NEWPORT NEWS - William 'Bill' Arthur Eason Jr., 77, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at Riverside Regional Convalescent Center. Born in Tarboro, N.C., he had been a resident of Newport News for the past 40 years. He retired from the U.S. Army as a CWO-4 in 1977 with 26 years of dedicated service as a Master Army Aviator. Throughout his military career he received many awards, including the Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 14 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Bronze Star and Legion of Merit. In his spare time, he enjoyed golf, bridge, pinochle and spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Eason is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruby Eason of Newport News; his son, Andy Eason and his wife, Shelley, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; his daughters, Libby Daws and her husband, John, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Terry Combs and her husband, Dennis, of Newport News; his brother, Robert L. Eason and his wife, Sharon, of Snug Harbor, N.C.; his sister, Shirley Redd of Chesapeake; his seven grandchildren, Ryan Daws and his wife, Becca, Danielle Daws, Chris Eason and his wife, Becky, Jennifer Eason, Chad Eason, Nick Combs and Luke Combs; and his two great-grandchildren, Connor and Brooke Daws. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 15, at the Fort Eustis Regimental Chapel conducted by Chaplain Joe Riss. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fort Eustis Transportation Museum, 300 Washington Blvd., Fort Eustis, VA 23604, or the American Cancer Society, 11895 Canon Blvd., Suite A-102, Newport News, VA 23606.
