More detail on this person: Melvin R. Evans, 59 Vietnam War veteran Melvin Ray Evans, 59, of Powder Springs died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw. A Stafford, Kan., native, Mr. Evans served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Georgia Power Company as an attorney. He was a member of the Atlanta Bar Association. He was Catholic. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor F. Evans; one son, Bryan Evans of Pratt, Kan.; three daughters, Elizabeth Smith of Woodstock, Debra Vesey of Douglasville and Barbara Jones of Marietta; his mother, Mary Evans of Stafford; one brother, George "Dude" Evans of Oklahoma; two sisters, Dolly Bratcher of Panama City, Fla., and Mary Ann Johnson of Witchita, Kan.; and 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
