More detail on this person: Helicopter accident while taking off from an oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico off LA.

I received the following info yesterday in the form of a letter, that Bob Elliott had written. I also spoke to Bob on the phone last night. On Aug 13,'03 Mike Frye was pulling pitch on a oil rig off the coast of Louisiana when the ship violently pitched to the right. It slammed Mike and his 3 passengers into the water. 1 passenger died, the other 2 were critical. Mike went down 160-200 feet with the ship. I don't know if they have recovered him yet or not. They were going to try to find him today with a special dive team and a barge/crane.

Mike was a Pilot 67-68 with the 117th Assault Helicopter Company. He retired from the Army and worked 12 years with Petroleum Helicopter Inc.(PHI). Mike made his home in TX.
