More detail on this person: John S. Farrance, age 74, of Boiling Springs PA, passed away at home on Thursday, April 27, 2023. He was born December 12, 1948, in Healdsburg, CA to the late Blair Farrance and Wilma Jerve (Stanley) Farrance. John was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran having served as a Chief Warrant Officer 2. He was a Dustoff 61 283rd Medical Detachment helicopter pilot and flew UH-1 Huey medevac helicopters performing countless emergency casualty evacuations from combat zones. For his acts of heroism, he earned the following military decorations: Air Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, and Army Aviation Badge. John was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Carlisle Vietnam Veterans, Dustoff Association and the Vietnam Helicopter Pilot Association. John was a business owner in the automobile industry for many years and a financial and insurance professional with Horace Mann Companies for 28 years, retiring in December of 2015. He enjoyed playing golf, was a loyal San Francisco 49ers and San Francisco Giants fan, and deeply enjoyed cheering on his children, grandchildren, and great grandson at their youth sporting events. Above all, John cherished the time he spent with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years Linda A (Hill) Farrance; son Brett Farrance and his wife Angela (Weaver) Farrance of Mount Holly Springs; son Chad Farrance and his wife Katrina (Swan) Farrance of Carlisle; grandchildren Briana Farrance, Cheyenne Farrance, Ellie Farrance, Quinn Farrance and Easton Farrance; great-grandchildren Carter Sheaffer and soon to arrive Charlee Simmoneu; brother William Farrance and his wife Nelly Farrance. In addition to his late parents, John was preceded in death by his sisters Barbara (Farrance) Wagner and Marilee Farrance. A public visitation will be held at 1:00 PM followed by a memorial service at 2:30 PM on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Rd., Carlisle, PA 17013. Private interment will take place at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in the memory of John can be made to Carlisle Vietnam Veterans Inc., 65 Fairview St., Carlisle, PA 17015.
