David was born on May 19, 1938 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to the late Lloyd Bruce and Lyda (Nelson) Fairweather. David served in the United States Marine Corp for 5 years and retired from the United States Army after 15 years of service as a Chief Warrant Officer 2. While serving he was awarded a Purple Heart, Air Medal, Master Parachutist Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, 2 time recipient of the Bronze Star, Distinguished Flying Cross with 2 Oak Leaf Cluster, Pathfinder Badge, Army Commendation Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, and a Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Silver Star. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post # 3418 in Boonville.
