More detail on this person: James "Jim" Fazekas, 81, passed away on February 23, 2024, at Westminster Village in Dover, Delaware. He was born in Lorain, Ohio to the late George and Ellis Fazekas. Jim served as a rotary and fixed wing aviator in the United States Army for 21 years. He served two tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and 34 Air Medals for valor. Jim was a Master Aviator with more than 5,700 accident-free flight hours, 1,400 of which were combat hours. After retiring from the Army, he worked as a corporate pilot before finally retiring in 2006. Jim enjoyed travelling, reading, and visiting his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also was a docent for ten years at the Air Mobility Command Museum at Dover Air Force Base in Dover, Delaware. Jim is survived by his wife and soulmate of 60 years, Judy; his son, Scott (Tracy), his daughter Laurie (Philip), grandchildren Matthew (Jessica) and Samantha Fazekas and Christopher (Molly) and Alexander (Julia) Carey, step-grandchildren Jeremy (Alicia), Stephanie (Justin), Amanda (Eric) and their families, and great-grandchildren Noah James and Ellie Ann Carey. A remembrance for Jim will take place on Friday, March 1, at 5:30 p.m. with a gathering beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave. Wyoming, DE 19934. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Army Emergency Relief at www.armyemergencyrelief.org.
