He was born December 13, 1945 in Hodge, Louisiana to Cercy L. and Wanda Frey and was preceded in death by brother, Cercy. He is survived by his wife, Patsy L. Frey of Missouri City, sons Jeremy T. Frey of Minnesota; Todd L. Solomon of Colorado; sister and brother-in-law, Ione and Greg Courson of Ruston, Louisiana; mother-in-law Lou Lawler, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Hal and Jan Lawler, all of La Porte, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. After graduating college at Northeast Louisiana University in 1967 with a double major in Chemistry and Biology, he entered the U. S. Army to serve his country. He rose to the rank of captain and his military service included a tour as a scout pilot in Vietnam in the late 1960's. He was awarded many distinguished honors including the National Defense Service Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. Upon returning to civilian life, he re-focused his abundant energy and intelligence to a life-long career as a recognized environmental, health and safety science expert. He will be missed by many work colleagues and close friends at Fluor Corporation of Sugarland. He adored his wife Patsy and their life together. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Park Plaza Hospital for the excellent care and many kindnesses given to Tom during his illness. The memorial service will be held at Paul U. Lee Funeral Home at the intersection of A St. and 3rd St. in La Porte, Texas on Saturday, January 6th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. In lieu of the usual remembrances, contributions may be made to the Lou Lawler Seafarers Center at 1700 E.
