age 76 of Old Hickory, TN, died June 3, 2014.
Mr. Farmer was a member of Hermitage Hills
Baptist Church. He was a retired Lieutenant
Colonel in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam, and
received The Bronze Star Medal and The
Meritorious Service Medal. Mr. Farmer was a
member of the Military Officers Association of
America and a member of the Vietnam Veterans
Helicopter Pilots Association. Mr. Farmer served
as the City Manager of Mt. Juliet for 18 years and
was a former president of the Tennessee City
Managers Association. He was a member of the
Mt. Juliet Breakfast Rotary Club, the Wilson
County Grand Squares Square Dance Club and was
an avid golfer.
Mr. Farmer was the son of the late Hugh Wilson
and Lennie Geraldine Thomas Farmer. He was also
preceded in death by his sister, Carlotta Hoffman.
He is survived by wife of 58 years, Joan Farmer;
children, Danny Alan Farmer, Carol (Tony) Alicie
and Susan Beth Farmer and grandchildren, Patrick
and Bethany Alicie.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday,
June 6, 2014 at Bond Memorial Chapel, with Rev.
Chuck Groover officiating. Interment with full
military honors will follow at Woodlawn Memorial
Park. Honorary Pallbearers will be 1983-2000 City
of Mt. Juliet Employees.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The
Alzheimer's Association , 4825 Trousdale Dr., Ste.
220, Nashville, TN 37220.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, and one hour
prior to service time Friday at Bond Memorial
Chapel, N. Mt. Juliet Road and Weston Drive, Mt.
