John "J. B." Ferguson, 63, of Western Grove, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2004, at the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was formally of Phillips County, Arkansas. He was born August 19, 1940, in Parkin, Arkansas, the son of Bert Lee and Mattie A. Morgan Ferguson. He was a Baptist and a retired carpenter. He served two tours of duty in South Vietnam. John flew Cobras and Huey helicopters during his military service and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in Vietnam for heroism. He was also awarded the Air Medal fifty-four times. While stationed in Germany, John saved a fellow soldier from a burning fuel tanker and was awarded the Soldiers Medal for his heroic action.
