More detail on this person: Springfield - Robert "Bob" Reece Forrest, Sr., 77, passed away October 9, 2023 at his residence. The Florida native retired from the U.S. Army after 30 years, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. His service included 2 tours in Vietnam, 4 tours in Korea and a tour in South America where he enjoyed fishing. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. While in the U.S. Army, he received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal, and National Defense Service Medal w/1 Bronze Service Star. Military education included Aviation Combat Surveillance Qualification, Aviator and Instructor Pilot. After retirement, he started Woodworks Manufacturing where he worked for another 15 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jefferson Reece Forrest and Margie Valentine Forrest; and brother, Wray C. Forrest. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Lancaster Forrest; children, Rhonda Marie Forrest and Robert "Bobby" Reece Forrest, Jr. (Tina); grandchildren, William Reece Forrest, Luke Shane Forrest, and Laura Jean Forrest; sister, Jan Kocher (Ken); and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, October 12, 2023 at the funeral home followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. in the chapel. Interment will follow in Stillwell Cemetery.
